"what is a compromise? It is a
work of mutual concession - an agreement in which there are reciprocal
stipulations - a work in which, for the sake of peace and concord, one party
abates his extreme demands in consideration of an abatement of extreme demands
by the other party: it is a measure of mutual concession - a measure of mutual
sacrifice."-Henry Clay 1850 (Drawing my soapbox to the center of the
gathering of my friends). Ok, one of our biggest problem today is EVERYONE
wants everything their way. That is not new to this generation, it has been going
on since time immortal. What is different is we have forgotten how to
compromise with the other.
Not everything is life and death, therefore not everything is worth arguing with everyone on. If it doesn't matter in the long run, why waste the limited time you have on earth being a giant pain in the posterior to everyone you come in contact with? Things that are eternally important you should stand your beliefs, but there must be give and take in the ordinary opinions of everyone on this ball of mud.
The art of compromise has been forgotten in the last fifty years. Check out my new book on compromise too see a master at work. http://www.amazon.com/Henry-Clay-Compromise-Ambition-Mentoring/dp/1478722630

Love me or hate me, we are here with
each other for a brief time. If you choose to be an ineffectual human being in
the day to day, you will have a miserable existence here, and a worse one in
the hereafter. (put soap box away)
