The second amendment is
the most attacked of all of the rights given to us by the founders. They
understood an armed people could always be a more independent people, a more responsible people, a people better
able to defend themselves.
But as our public
education system began bringing everyone down to the lowest common denominator,
being independent and responsible has become less important.
Until I went through Basic
Training, I had never been around guns, my Dad had several, but he was a
collector-never got them out, never fired them.
Now, however, I have a
conceal-carry permit. I read history, I see what’s coming. Countries that
outlaw weapons have more crime: the police can’t be everywhere, the bad guys know
you’re not packing and VOILA, you’re vulnerable. America may not outlaw guns in
my lifetime, but it probably will in the lifetime of my kids.
You see the celebrities on
TV who endorse ‘gun control,’ but they have armed guards for themselves and
their kids. They are saying they are more important than you and we, well not
me but we as a people, keep going to their movies and buying their music while
they look down their noses at us and laugh;
AND THEY SHOULD.
I’m not for or anti guns,
but I believe if you want a gun to defend what you hold dear, your neighbor shouldn’t
vote for a law that takes that right away.
If you want your kids safe
at school, you don’t need a new law banning pistols with more than eleven
rounds in the clip. If you want your spouse safe, you don’t need a background
check from an eight year old who gets a gun from his Dad on his birthday. Both
of those insane proposals are what is being debated on Capitol Hill. These laws
won’t be passed this time around, but they will be passed, and that will be
step closer to a national registry being kept of everyone in the country that
has a gun, and the eventual elimination of weapons.
Do I sound paranoid?
Probably, but that does not make me any less right.
If guns are outlawed, no
one will ever, ever, ever, ever be shot again, right? Tell that to Illinois,
New York and California: states that allow only law enforcement to carry
weapons. They should have lower crime, right? It’s higher there than anywhere
else in the country. But its not the facts this hypocritical self righteous
living brain donors want-its control. When you are vulnerable, you are
dependent on them-they make the rules.
As long as the second amendment
stands we-in theory-can retain some part of our freedom.
